Connecting a domain name

By default, your main domain looks like store.shopie.gr. If you want a custom URL for your store, such as www.myshop.com, then you can add one to your online store. You can add a custom domain name to Shopie by following these steps:

Adding the domain name to your store

First, you need to add your domain name to your store. This step identifies you as the owner of your custom domain.

  1. From the administration, navigate to the page: System > My domain
  2. In the field enter the domain name you want to connect, e.g.: clothingbrand.com
  3. Press the Connect button

Now you need to set the domain to point to Shopie.

Setting up the domain name

The domain settings are made from the control panel provided by your domain provider. That is, from the company you bought it from. You will need to edit the following DNS settings:

  • An A record pointing to the IP of Shopie. This IP is: 52.57.71.82
  • A CNAME record www pointing to shops.shopie.gr

If you are unsure about the DNS changes, contact your provider for assistance.

  1. Log in to your provider's control panel.
  2. Find your DNS settings. Look in your domain management area, DNS configuration, or similar.
  3. Edit the A record to point to the IP address 52.57.71.82. You should select the column that contains the @ symbol.
  4. Save the A record.
  5. Find the CNAME record in your DNS settings.
  6. Change the www CNAME record to point to shops.shopie.gr . In most cases, you only need to provide the prefix without the period (shops), but for some providers you need the entire subdomain (shops.shopie.gr). Use your existing CNAME records as a guide or follow your provider's instructions. CNAME records should always point to a domain name, never to an IP address.
  7. Save the CNAME record.

Verify Connection

On the My Domain page, click the Check Connection button.

What to tell your provider

If you contact your provider, tell them that:

  • you want the root domain (the A record) to point to the IP address 52.57.71.82
  • you want the subdomain www (the CNAME record) to point to shops.shopie.gr
