Products

You can add or update information about a product, such as its price, combinations, and availability, from the add product form in the admin.

A product consists of some elements, which are:

  • The name or title
  • The images
  • The short description
  • The main description
  • The features
  • The combinations
  • The price
  • The tax rate
  • The code (SKU)
  • The quantity
  • The weight
  • The categories
  • The brand
  • The similar products

Name or Title

The name for your product as you want your customers to see it.

Images

Images show your customers what the product looks like. It's important to have high resolution images to accurately represent them. Read more about images and their value on a website.

Short Description

A short description of the product in plain text. It appears below the price.

Main Description

The main description uses a rich text editor to format your text. Describe your products in detail to inform and convince your potential customers.

Features

A product's features provide value to your potential customers and differentiate a product in the marketplace. The battery life of an electronic device can be considered a feature. As can the fabric or other materials a bag is made of.

Combinations

You add combinations or variations to a product that comes in more than one option, such as size or color. For example, let's say you sell t-shirts with two options: size and color. The size option has three values: small, medium, and large. The color option has two values: blue and green. A specific variation of these options is a small, blue t-shirt.

Price

The price you charge for the product, which must include taxes. The adjacent field automatically calculates the price excluding VAT based on the tax rate you have selected.

Tax rate

The VAT rate for this product.

Code

The code that identifies the product in your business. For more effective tracking and sales reporting, each code must be unique.

Quantity

The number of units in stock. The quantity number can be negative if you allow the purchase of out-of-stock products.

Weight

The actual weight of the product. The weight of the product must be accurate, as it is used to calculate shipping rates.

Categories

Categories group your products. They are a key navigation element in an online store. They help your potential customers easily find what they are looking for.

Brand

The name of the manufacturer or supplier of the product.

Similar Products

Although it is not a product element, it is a helpful tool to link products together to suggest to your visitors when they view the product.
